45-year-old arrested for sexual assault on grandkids, 9-year-old neighbour

The accused, Gandhi, is a construction labourer, and had been arrested earlier for attempting to kill his wife, said the police. The incident came to light on January 12 when the children’s parents were away.

He brought a nine-year-old neighbour to his house and molested her along with his two granddaughters aged eight and five. After the kids complained of pain in their private parts, the parents got to know of the matter and lodged a complaint with the Tondiarpet police station against Gandhi.

He had been absconding ever since the police registered a case but, a special team led by inspector Ravindran launched a hunt for him and nabbed him from his mother’s house in Gingee. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
