Stella Maris kickstarts zero plastics campaign
Second year MA students of the Department of Public Relations at Stella Maris College have organised a ‘ST0P- Step Towards Zero Plastic’ campaign that aims to create awareness amid the target audiences about the ban announced by the Tamil Nadu State Government and sensitise them about responsible segregation and disposal of plastic waste.
Chennai
The inauguration of the campaign was held at HC block (HC1) in the campus. Vidya Amarnath, director, Patterson Energy Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest for the event.
The campaign looks at an action-based response from audiences in moving towards alternate resources that will minimise the use of plastics in people’s daily lives.
The campaign aims to reach out to the public to suggest alternate methods that can replace plastics. The student endeavour to tell people to rise above the minor inconvenience for the short period of time in order to contribute to a healthy environment.
The campaign would encompass a lot of activities in the month of January and February including presentations, interactions with students of 10 colleges and 20 private and public schools, online contests, a junk-art competition, a flash-mob, a short-film screening and a public event- walkathon.
