Stolen vehicles seized from duo

The accused, M Abdul Ahmed (47) of Tirunelveli district and V Yoganathan (36) of Valasaravakkam, were arrested during a vehicle check in Nerkundram on Tuesday. When they tried to flee on a two-wheeler without cooperating with the police, the duo was chased and secured.

Upon questioning, the duo admitted to have stolen three vehicles in the past month. “On December 10, they stole a Tata Indica from Maduravoyal and a van on December 20. On January 8, they escaped with another van from K K Nagar,” the police said. All three vehicles were seized from them. The van stolen from Maduravoyal belongs to R Rajesh Kannan and he had lodged a complaint on December 21. They were remanded.
