Passers-by noticed the body lying with injuries all over the body near a Tasmac shop on Arcot Road and alerted the SRMC police station. His body was retrieved and sent for post-mortem examination immediately.
An investigation revealed that he had been missing since Monday evening. “He went to the Tasmac shop with his friend and is suspected to have been murdered in a drunken brawl,” the police said.
CCTV footage retrieved from the locality showed a man changing his blood-stained shirt near the crime scene and the police are trying to identify him.
The police are investigating whether the murder was a fallout of sudden provocation or there was any other motive. He is survived by his wife Selvi and two children.
