‘Check flights before heading to airport on Bogi’
The Chennai Airport Officials have urged passengers to make a call and obtain confirmation of their flight departure before heading to the airport on the day of Bogi. The warning comes in the wake of precedence over Bogi smoke caused by the burning of waste which can delay the flight schedule.

A press release from the airport said, “Last year, the airfield was covered with thick smoke emanating from burning of waste and had resulted in reduced visibility at Chennai Airport, leading to diversion, cancellation and delay of many flights causing inconvenience to passengers until 11 am.”
Though there were 73 departures and 45 arrivals scheduled between 3 am to 9 am, most flights departed after 11 am. Passengers were stranded for long hours in the airport due to delayed departures the statement said.
Taking into account the previous year’s experience, the Chennai Airport AOCC, in co-ordination with all stake holders has geared up to minimise the inconvenience to the travelling public.
“We would request the travelling public transiting through Chennai Airport to kindly make note of changes in their flight timing if any and plan their travel accordingly. Passengers can access the flight schedules through the Chennai Airport Mobile App, which is dynamically connected to Chennai Airport AOCC,” the release added.
We sincerely request public staying in the proximity of airport not to burn waste materials which creates thick smoke during Bogi, said the release from the airport.
