Trio in auto hacks student at LPG station

On Tuesday night, three men in an autorickshaw arrived at the station and bypassed the line to refill gas. When Purushothaman asked them to stand in the queue, an argument erupted between them.

Suddenly, one of them took out a machete and started attacking Purushothaman. The CCTV footage of the attack released by the police showed other in the station witnessing the attack in a state of shock. While one of them tried to intervene, the attackers threatened him. They also damaged the gas station and fled the spot.

Purushothaman has been admitted to a private hospital and is out of danger, said the police. The pattabiram police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the attackers. 

Two unidentified robbers brutally attacked a 50-year-old MTC driver with a machete after he refused to give them money in Tiruvottiyur in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Pandithurai, who drives water tankers for Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC). When he was returning home after work on his two-wheeler around 1.30 am, he stopped the bike on Tiruvottiyur High Road to attend the nature’s call.

Meanwhile, two men on a bike approached him and demanded money. When he refused, one of them took out a machete and hacked him. Pandithurai fell unconscious with a deep cut injury on his right hand and the duo escaped from the spot.

The passers-by noticed Pandithurai lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to the Stanley Medical College Hospital. He got 18 stiches on the injured hand and is stable, said the police. Based on his complaint, the Tiruvottiyur police registered a case and have launched a hunt for the duo.
