Cops rescue kidnapped ganja peddler’s kin
Three persons, including two college students, kidnapped a man after his relative cheated them of Rs 80,000 on the promise of getting them ganja.

Suresh (22), a college student, met Himayath Ali (24) of Hasthinapuram two months ago. After Himayath Ali promised that he can get high quality ganja, Suresh collected Rs 80,000 from his friend Manoj, also a student, and one Murugan and gave it to him.
However, Himayath Ali avoided them after receiving the money. The trio hatched a plan to retrieve the money from him and called him from another number on Monday.
They allegedly told him that they wanted to purchase ganja and asked him to come to St Thomas Mount. But Himayath Ali’s kin Shoib came to the spot with a friend.
They kidnapped Shoib and sent back his friend. Later, they demanded Rs 80,000 from Himayath Ali to release Shoib.
Based on Himayath Ali’s complaint, the St Thomas Mount police registered a case. Police called Suresh over phone in the guise of Himayath’s relatives and asked them to come to Porur to receive the money.
When Suresh and his two friends reached Porur, the police surrounded them and rescued Shoib. After investigation, Y Himayath Ali (23) was arrested. Further investigation is on with Suresh and his friends.
