A total of 30 special counters including two counters at Sanatorium MEPZ and one each in Poonamallee and Madhavaram bus terminus has been created ahead of Pongal.

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) is operating 2,275 buses from the city regularly. In view of Pongal, 5,163 additional services will be operated for four days between January 11-14 to clear the Pongal rush.

Based on this, a total of 14,263 buses will be operated from the city to the other places. While 10,445 buses will be operated from the other parts of the State.

For the onward journey, a special arrangement has been made to enhance the travel. Between January 17-20, nearly 3,776 buses will be operated to the city and 7,841 buses will be operated for transiting between other cities and towns across the State.

As part of the arrangement, the fully occupied buses from the Koyambedu bus shelter will ply via Maduravoyal, Poonamallee, Nazarathpet and Outer Ring Road to reach Vandalur. Hence, passengers boarding at Perungalathur are advised to board at the temporary shelter erected in Urapakkam.

In order to ease congestion along Tambaram, Perungalathur, Vandalur and Urapakkam, an alternative arrangement has been made for the four days.

The public travelling via four-wheeler and other vehicles are advised to take Tirukalukundram-Chengalpattu or Sriperumbudur-Chengalpattu routes. Also, temporary arrangements have been made for the heavy vehicles ensuring that Maduravoyal-Chengalpattu stretch is avoided between 2 pm and 2 am.

This arrangement will be in place between January 11 and 14.

This time, the passengers can also book tickets via online after visiting the following websites www.tnstc.in , www.redbus.in or www.paytm.com or www.busindia.com.
