While every year Chennai will host a curtain raiser of the event that will be held in Pollachi from January 13 to 15, this year it has got bigger with a three-day event. “We usually hold a one-day event in Chennai to display the balloons before the festival begins in Pollachi. This year, we partnered with Mahendra and have organised a three-day event,” Benedict, one of the organisers of the event.
This year, the event has balloons of differnt themes including a White Cat, Angry bird and also one inspired by Superstar Rajinikanth’slook in 2.0.
The TBIFF this year will also feature performances from singer-actor Andrea Jeremiah apart from games and DJ night. “We also have tethering session where the balloons will fly up to the height of 50-feet. It is not possible to have flight event in Chennai as the city has an airport. It is not safe as we will not be able read the conditions properly. While flying a hot air balloon, we can only control the altitude and not direction,” Benedict added.
The fest is organised every year to promote tourismin the state.
