    SSN hands scholarships to 560 deserving students

    SSN Institutions, the first initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation in the field of education, recently concluded the 20th edition of its Annual Scholarship Day. The institution distributed scholarships worth Rs 4.45 crore to 560 students.

    Diptiman Das, chairman and managing director of EdCIL India Limited was the Chief Guest of the event and PS Suresh, chief operating officer of Bhartiya International Limited was the Special Invitee.


    The SSN Scholarship Scheme was launched in 1999 with an aim to ensure access to high quality education to all strata of society. The scheme has benefitted over 8,200 students till date and Rs 73 crore has been disbursed by the institution under various categories.


    R Srinivasan, chairman, Kala Vijaykumar, president, S Salivahanan, principal, SSN College of Engineering and prof B Srinivasan, director, SSN School of Management were also present at the occasion.


    SSN Institutions offers scholarships across various categories: Rural scholarships, Walk-in- walk-out scholarships, Sports scholarships, Music scholarships, Merit scholarships, Merit-cum-means scholarships and SSN VidyaGyan Scholarships.


    The SSN Scholarship Scheme benefits all eligible students in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering and the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programmes.


    Addressing the scholarship recipients, Diptiman said, “You have received a unique opportunity to not just study in a world-class institution but also to witness the power of philanthropy in shaping the society through the wonderful work being done by your founder. I urge all of you to inculcate in yourself a sense of giving back to your surroundings, community and society at large.”


    The alumni of SSN, as in the previous years, have once again extended support towards this effort by contributing nearly Rs 10 lakh for 26 students under the Merit-cum-means category. The students who have earlier benefited from SSN’s Rural Scholarship Scheme donated a sum of Rs 70,000 under the ‘Rural Scholars – Giving Back’ program.
