    Two women, including a 65-year-old, lost 15 sovereigns to chain snatchers in separate incidents on Thursday.

    A 65-year-old woman was relieved of her 10 sovereigns near Thiruninravur railway station. She was identified as P Chandra, a widow from NGO Colony in Thiruninravur. When she was returning from her sister’s house in Saidapet on Thursday evening, an unidentified man snatched her chain near the entrance of the railway station. In the impact, Chandra fell and suffered injuries. The Tiruvallur railway police have registered a case and further investigation is on.


    In another incident, a textile shop employee was relieved of her five-sovereign chain to snatchers in Ayanavaram on Thursday night. The incident happened when the victim, Thulasi of Vyasarpadi, was returning home after work. When she was walking near VP Colony, two bike-borne snatchers followed her and snatcher her chain. Based on her complaint, the Ayanavaram police have registered a case and further investigation on. The incident has happened a few metres away from a police booth.


    Two persons arrested for kidnapping senior citizen

    The Korattur police have arrested two persons in connection with the kidnap of a senior citizen to rob him. The accused persons, Mahesh and Vijay, were secured from Thiruninravur with the help of CCTV footage retrieved from the spot where the victim, Gopinath, was kidnapped in an autorickshaw on Thursday. City police Commissioner AK Viswanathan on Friday rewarded the police personnel who secured the suspects within 24 hours.
