Intelligence cop’s phone snatched for capturing traffic policeman taking bribe
A traffic constable snatched the phone of a police man attached to the Intelligence Section (IS) of the city police on Tuesday night after the latter tried to take a video of the traffic cop collecting bribes from truck drivers in Manali. Later, senior officers intervened in the matter, after which the IS officer got back his phone.

The IS officer Vetri, who was on night rounds, noticed Manali traffic constable Senthil accepting bribe from lorry drivers. He tried to take photographs of the incident on his phone in order to report it to his superiors.
However, the constable spotted Vetri and got into an argument with him. Senthil also snatched Vetri’s mobile phone claiming that he was not in uniform.
As Senthil refused to return the phone, Vetri got in touch with the Manali police inspector to get his phone. Immediately after this, Senthil lodged a complaint against Vetri claiming that the latter did not allow him to ‘work’.
“IS personnel do not wear uniform as they were supposed to mingle with regular people and inform senior officers about the functioning of a police station,” an officer said. After the intervention of senior officers, Senthil withdrew his complaint. Further inquiry is on.
Traffic cop attacked
A head constable attached to Royapuram police station escaped with minor injuries when two offenders tried to attack him with a knife in Kasimedu.
The victim, Desingu, was earlier working with the crime wing of Kasimedu police. He was allegedly attacked by offenders whom he had arrested earlier. “As the constable was alert, he sustained only minor injuries.
However, the attackers fled the spot,” said sources. A case was registered by the Kasimedu police and one of the accused, identified as Dheena, has been arrested.
