Mom takes fatal plunge into sea with 3-yr-old boy

Bharath (30) of Vepery, a driver, lodged a complaint at Vepery police station that his wife Kamini (24) and son Dhanu (3) had gone missing after stepping out on Friday to buy milk. A case was registered and the police were searching them. 

Later on Friday night, the Foreshore Estate police received information that a woman’s body had washed ashore near Pattinampakkam. It was retrieved and sent to Royapettah Government Hospital. A few hours later, the child’s body was found washed ashore near Adyar estuary. 

When they made inquiries, the Foreshore Estate police came to know that a missing complaint has been filed at the Vepery police station and informed them.

Bharath identified both Kamini and Dhanu on Saturday morning after which autopsy was performed. The Vepery police said that the couple was staying at the house of the deceased woman’s mother and suspect that Kamini could have resorted to the extreme step due to differences in the family.

Though Kamini wanted to go alone to buy milk, Dhanu was adamant to join her, police said quoting her kin. The couple has another child, a twin of Dhanu.
