They wanted to fill the huge void that exists in the city for an ecosystem where parents and kids together get to unwind, get fit, play and eat all under one roof. The team founded a beautiful house in Abhiramapuram and transformed it into a family activity centre called Utopia.

One of the co-founders, Badri Narayanan, shares, “In many ways, the idea of Utopia exists in the mind and heart of every parent. Which parent wouldn’t have wished for a place where they are happy and content pursuing their passions, while their children are thriving in a safe setting engaged in play, adventure, learning and other activities? Utopia was founded with the goal of transforming the lifestyle of parents, while they enable their children to play, learn and have fun. Utopia is for adults who have a child in them and a child with them.”

The place offers facilities for fitness, music, dance, art,  play and adventure, where both parents and children can do activities jointly or individually.  “There are ample stand-alone fitness areas, kids play areas, cafés, activity centers and media zones; but there is no integrated facility where all of these services come together for parents and kids alike,” he adds.

Millennial parents (between the age group of 22 and 37) are game for new concepts when it comes to parenting. Luckily, the city has witnessed many activity centres in the past five years. “Though the reception was overwhelming, a few parents were a bit apprehensive about Utopia. Once we explained the concept, they loved it and started coming in. The highlight of Utopia is the workout sessions that can be done by both parents and children between the age group of 13 and 16. They can be part of yoga sessions and zumba classes,” he adds.
