Police, during an investigation linked to phone snatching cases, had detained him, while two of his associates managed to dodge the police. Police had reportedly recovered 3 mobile phones from the boy. Police kept him at the station and were conducting inquiries to know the details of the other accused. The police said that he was a Class 7 student of a government school as was involved in a series of mobile theft cases.

On Sunday morning, after getting permission to go to the restroom,  the boy escaped from the station.

The police team had been on the lookout for him from Sunday morning.

"We got an information that the juvenile, a resident of Kannagi Nagar, was at his house and we nabbed him from there," said a police officer. The police said that the boy had been arrested earlier and was lodged at Kelly’s juvenile home for theft cases.
