Six important roads in North Chennai under 100 per cent CCTV cover
Six important roads in North Chennai have come under 100 per cent CCTV surveillance on Thursday after 668 video cameras were inaugurated by city Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan. The Police said that the new surveillance cameras were installed in NSC Bose Road, Rajaji Salai, Ibrahim Salai, Esplanade Road, Wall Tax Road and Mint Street.

The cameras will be monitored through two control rooms set up at the North Beach traffic police station and near Stanley Medical College Hospital roundtana. “All of them are high resolution cameras. Some of them will soon be enabled with number plate detection facility,” said an officer.
The commissioner also distributed helmets and rain coats to policemen at the function. Steps are being taken to bring Mannarsamy Koil Street, SN Chetty Street, Ennore Express Highway and Kathivakkam Highway under 100 per cent CCTV camera surveillance.
