The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) begun an inquiry into the missing case of the two-year-old girl, Harini, who was kidnapped while sleeping with her parents near Kalpakkam in Kancheepuram two months ago. According to police, Venkadesan (30), the child’s father, hails from Pauvnchur in Madurantakam. He, along with his wife Kaaliammal (25) and daughter Harini (2), used to sell pearls and other accessories from a tempo. On Saturday night, at 1.30 Venkadesan realised that Harini, who was sleeping inside the mosquito net, was missing. Following this, the Annaikattu police registered a case and launched a search.
During the investigation, the special team found that the kidnappers used a two-wheeler to carry out the crime. Police, along with Venkadesan, travelled to Kolkata to identify a child a month ago. However, it was not Harini.Â
On Tuesday morning the National Child Safety Commission member Dr Anandan visited the parents of the child at the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office in Madurantakam. He consoled them and promised that the child will be found in the next fifteen days. He said that they were probing the different angles with the help of Superintendent of Police and the district Collector.Â
