Fight between traffic cops now reaches Law and Order
After the video that showed a traffic inspector pushing a constable off the moving bike for complaining about him over the walkie-talkie went viral, an audio clip of the constable’s wife circulated on WhatsApp on Sunday. She claimed that the Abiramapuram police were reluctant to file a case against the inspector and made her wait for more than six hours.

While the constable Dharmaraj suffered a fracture in the attack, his wife D Sridevi claimed that the Abiramapuram police were hesitant to register a case against inspector Ravichandran. She also said that they made her wait at the police station for more than six hours to issue a Community Service Register receipt, an acknowledgement that her complaint has been accepted.
When contacted, Mylapore Deputy Commissioner of police NM Mayilvahanan told DT Next that an inquiry into the issue is underway by an assistant commissioner and that they would take appropriate action would be initiated once it is completed.
Meanwhile, sources said that Ravichandran, who was initially transferred to Armed Reserve wing, has been moved to Vacancy Reserve after several police personnel felt that action was unsatisfactory. Decision on registering an FIR against the inspector would be taken by Monday, sources added.
