Burglars drill hole in liquor shop, loot Rs 2.5 lakh
Unidentified persons drilled a hole on the wall of a Tasmac shop and burgled Rs 2.5 lakh on Old Washermanpet-Tiruvottiyur High Road on Friday.

The incident came to light when the staff came to open the shop on Saturday as usual. The employees immediately alerted the police control room after which a team of personnel rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry. A case has been registered and CCTV footage have been collected to ascertain the identity of the burglars.Â
In yet another incident, a petrol bunk employee escaped with Rs 80,000 cash in Virugambakkam. The suspect, Sekar hails from Gudiyatham, and had joined the petrol bunk just three days ago. On Friday night, he escaped with a bag containing cash after which the owner Sundar of Alwar Thirunagar has lodged a complaint at Virugambakkam police station.
