Juvenile among 7 youth arrested for drag racing

The arrested persons were identified as Arun (20) and Dinesh (19) from Solavaram, Hari (24) from seven wells, Moses (20) from Choolaipallam, Suresh (22) from Vyasarpadi, Karthick (25) from Nesapakkam and a 17-year-old boy.

Police said that Ponraj Pandian (35) from Pammal was returning home on his two-wheeler along with his mother Anandi (69) and daughter Divya (8) around 11 pm on Sunday. When they were travelling on the GST Road near Kathipara flyover, youngsters in around 10 bikes were racing. Police said that one of the bikes hit Ponraj and went past him without stopping. In the impact, all the three fell and Ponraj’s mother was admitted to the Chromepet Government Hospital with severe injuries. The St Thomas Mount traffic investigation police registered a case and identified the youngsters with help of CCTV footage. They were arrested on Friday and remanded in judicial custody.
