Driver kills self after fatally knocking down pedestrian on OMR
A 37-year-old auto driver committed suicide at his house in Thoraipakkam on Wednesday after he rammed a pedestrian under the influence of alcohol and killed him on Tuesday night.

The accident happened when Rajinikanth of PTC Quarters in Thoraipakkam was speeding on his auto on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) from Kandanchavadi towards Sholinganalllur. He lost control over the vehicle and rammed pedestrians near DP Jain College in Thoraipakkam.
Devadoss of Ellaiyamman Koil Street in Thoraipakkam, who suffered grievous injuries in the accident, was rushed to nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
On information, the Guindy traffic investigation police registered a case and secured Rajinikanth. However, he was let off on Wednesday morning after his wife and few others assured that they would bring him back for interrogation.
But Rajinikanth hanged himself in his house when he was alone. His wife rushed him to a hospital with the help of neighbours. But he was declared brought dead. The Kannagi Nagar police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
