Children’s Day gift: Kamal to give computer to Little Flower Convent
The students of the Little Flower Convent School for the Deaf and Visually-impaired here on Wednesday conveyed a request to one of their alumni – a famous personality.
Chennai
They asked actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who learnt Braille and sign language at the school, if he could procure a computer and printer to help them print materials in Braille.
In response, the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder-president, who spent the Children’s Day with around 500 students, gave them the assurance that he would get the required items delivered to the school.
Earlier, the children put on cultural performances for him. Besides Kamal, other senior-level committee members of his party including Sri Priya, C K Kumaravel and poet Snehan took part in the event.
Addressing the gathering, Kamal said: “I am an ex-student of this school, I learnt Braille and sign language here. Your rendition of my song gives me great amount of encouragement.
Just like you, people of Tamil Nadu are saying ‘unnal mudiyum thambi’ (you can do it brother) everywhere I go.”
Expressing his gratitude for their encouragement, Kamal said: “They sang a song expressing their wishes for my birthday. They are the future. They will witness more tomorrows than me, I am sure their wishes will increase my lifespan as well.”
He then districted sweets to the children and followed it up with an interaction with them.
