Two youth killed as car rams bike near Maduranthakam
Two youngsters, employees of a Chennai-based private firm, were killed after a car coming in the opposite direction ran amok and collided with their two-wheeler, on GST Road near Maduranthakam on Sunday night. They were heading to their hometown in Villupuram to celebrate Deepavali when the mishap took place.

The deceased persons were identified as Santhosh Kumar (25) and Ajith Kumar (23), both hailing from Villupuram. When Santhosh and Ajith were proceeding near Athimanam village near Maduranthakam on the National Highway, a car that was coming in the opposite direction lost control, jumped over the central median and got on to the other side of the road. The car hit their bike before coming to a halt.
In the impact, both of them fell down and suffered grievous injuries. Panicking after the incident, the car driver escaped from the spot immediately afterwards.
When a team from the Maduranthakam police went to the spot after receiving information, they found that Santhosh had already died. Ajith, who suffered severe injuries, was still alive when the police team rushed him to the Maduranthakam Government Hospital. However, it was too late by the time he reached there; doctors declared him dead on arrival.
After registering a case, the police officers are trying to trace the driver. Further investigation is on.
