Two things are mandatory when you step into this little eatery that serves Kerala food — an appetite and patience.

The service is pretty slow and the staff takes their own sweet time to serve the order but once that plate of parotta and beef arrives, the rest can be forgotten. The flatbread was soft and flaky while the nadan beef roast was packed with flavour.
The kuluki sharbat reminded me of the banter outside a tea stall on the streets of Kochi, where a few men would be sipping on their soda discussing politics.
By the time I could down two parottas, the delicious mathi porichathu (sardine fry) and gravy, I was thankful that I had had a light lunch that afternoon.
