7 snatching incidents reported
As many as seven mobile phones were snatched from pedestrians, including a naval officer, on Saturday. Rishikumar, a naval officer, was going for a walk on the Marina beach on Saturday night when unidentified persons snatched his phone and fled the spot.

Similarly, mobile phones have been snatched from Siva in Kodungaiyur, Ramesh in Perambur, Jaffer Shadiq in Royapettah and Thamim in Ice House, Nirmal in Ayanavaram and Robert in Madhavaram. Separate cases have been registered in respective stations and investigation is on. Meanwhile, the CMBT police have arrested a 50-year-old man for stealing mobile phone of a woman at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus. He was identified as A Karuppaiah of Sivagangai district.
