Though it has not created much impact Tamil Nadu, the government had sought information about the implications of Momo Challenge from the State Information Technology department. The department explained how the challenges that players had to go through included a series of violent acts and self-harming dares that gets progressively risky as the game progresses, finally ending with a suicide challenge.

The game has been designed in such a way that once a person decides to be part of it, she would not be able to get out in the middle of the game, the department informed the School Education directorate.

Following instructions from the IT department, the School Education Director has directed district education officers to instruct school authorities to take measures to prevent students getting attracted to the Momo Challenge. The officials were advised to stress the importance of creating awareness among students.

Parents and teachers should monitor the child’s online and social media activities, keeping an eye out for unusually secretive behaviour. The directorate asked school principals and headmasters to give regular feedback to the educational officers about the awareness measures undertaken in their campus.
