History-sheeter nabbed, phones, bullets seized
: ‘Yamaha’ Sreenivasan, an absconding history-sheeter, was nabbed by Kotturpuram police on Wednesday and a pistol magazine, four cartridges, 30 mobile phones and 36 SIM cards were seized from him.
Chennai
On October 8, police raided his house on a tip-off and seized 27 bullets from his two-wheeler. The raid followed the arrest of Dindigul-based Mohanram in Mumbai in connection with a three-year-old triple murder in Coimbatore as Sreenivasan is said to be his close aide. But he managed to escape then.
However, Kotturpuram police kept a watch out for him. After police received information that Sreenivasan visits his house in the wee hours, a team of police personnel were waiting on Gandhi Mandapam Road on Wednesday and secured him near Adyar Cancer Institute when he was on his way home. During the inquiry, Sreenivasan reportedly told police the pistol magazine and pistols were given to him by Mohanram, when he stayed with the latter. Police however said that they could not recover any gun from the suspect.
While he was remanded, police are planning to take him into custody to grill him further to establish his connection with Mohanram. In the city, Sreenivasan has an attempted murder registered against him in 2012, said police.
