4 held for trying to kill woman, hubby, aide absconding
Two days after a woman was brutally attacked by her history-sheeter husband and his aides in Tiruvanmiyur, police on Saturday secured four of them while the woman’s husband Rajesh and an aide, Prem, are still on the run.
Chennai
Rajesh, who was arrested in a theft case three months ago, was released recently. But angered with his wife Saranya for failing to visit him in the prison and on suspecting her fidelity, Rajesh met his aides and hatched a plan to murder Saranya. On Thursday evening, he went to her house in Kannagi Nagar and picked her up on the pretext of visiting a temple in Tiruvanmiyur.
When the couple reached Sivasundar Avenue in Tiruvanmiyur, five men intercepted the vehicle and attacked Saranya with knives, leaving her with multiple stab injuries. The gang fled the spot along with Rajesh after the attack.
While Prabhu, Vimal, Vikky and Parthasarathy were arrested in Nungambakkam, a hunt is on for the main accused, Rajesh, and Prem. Parthasarathy is from Periyar Nagar, while the other three are from Kannagi Nagar. Police said the victim continues to remain critical.
History-sheeters arrested
The Kodungaiyur police have arrested two history-sheeters for breaching the peace bond. Manikandan of Rajarathinam Nagar and Immanuel of Ezhil Nagar, who have several robbery cases against them, entered into a peace bond with police that they would not commit any crime for 365 days. However, following several complaints against the duo, police secured and remanded them in judicial custody.
