Police said that it was a security guard at a plywood shop who heard the cries of the infant first. He followed the voice and found the girl abandoned near a bush. He immediately alerted the police control room. A patrol police took the child and took her to a private hospital in Porur for administering first aid before taking the infant to the hospital in Egmore.
Police are looking for clues to find out who abandoned the girl. After browsing through the CCTV footage, Valasaravakkam police team found a woman abandoning the child near the bush. The visual shows her hiding behind a truck that was parked near a shop. The woman then took out the child from the bag and placed near the bush. “She was seen accompanying another person,” police said.
Police are hoping to establish her identity with the footage.
