Minor girl accuses mom, grandmom of sexual assault, both held under POCSO

While there have been horrific reports of men molesting their daughters, this is first time that two women have been arrested in a case involving incest and homosexuality.

The 42-year-old woman is the girl’s mother, who along with the girl’s 57-yearold grandmother, were accused of sexual abuse and mental torture. The complainant was the girl’s father. The man is the grandson of a well-known yesteryear film director and also runs a car sales and service centre in the city. The couple had separated, allegedly because of his wife and mother-in-law’s bizarre history of incest and aberrant behaviour.

Based on the father’s complaint, a team from the Teynampet all-women police went to Kumbakonam and nabbed the accused. According to the police, the girl’s father approached the police with video evidence to support his allegations. The videos showed the women in stages of undress and sometimes nude, in front of the minor girl, and also showed them behaving in an abnormal manner with her.

The girl, who is now living with her father, confided to the investigation officer about the sexual abuse she faced at the hands of her mother and grandmother after she attained puberty. The police took up the case in a serious manner, and both have been booked under Section 506 (i) of IPC for criminal intimidation. The girl also confided to the magistrate about the sexual assault.
