UGC approves all distance learning courses in Anna University

Centre for Distance Education, Anna University, director Dr S N Geetha said that the university accomplished National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) score of 3.46 mandated by UGC in its new regulations and has fulfilled all the requirements.

She said that the university has been offering distance education programmes in Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Master in Computer Application (MCA) and MSc computer science.

“Recently, new regulations namely the UGC (Open and Distance learning) regulations 2017 and subsequent amendments in 2018 were brought in by the commission to regulate the conduct of distance learning programmes by various universities in the country,” she added.

She said in this regard, the notification approving all the three programmes, MBA, MCA and MSc computer science conducted by the centre for distance education of Anna University for a period of five years (2018-2023) has been issued by UGC.

Accordingly, the three post graduate programme will have five semesters with nominal fee structure. While MBA programme duration will be for two years and for the other two courses duration will be for three years.

Anna University will also get the approval from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) for starting MBA, MCA and MSc courses.
