Elderly celebrate Older Persons’ Day by selecting Super Grandma, Grandpa

The day-long event included a presentation by the Thatikonda Vatsala Ramachandra (TVR) Foundation on disability aid to elderly people. Entertainment programmes such as group dance, fancy dress competition was also held. 

The Super Grandpa and Grandma were selected from those present at the event. After the celebrations, certificates were distributed among the volunteers. The dignitaries who attended the event included MLA Dr R Nataraj, the joint general manager of L&T Construction, Chennai, Cdr Manjunatha S and former Chief Justice of Gujarat P R Gokulakrishnan. The chief guest at the event was former judge of City Civil Court, Chennai, S Arumugam.

The United Nations has declared October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.
