The accused, identified as U Sreedhar (28), a resident of Royapuram, is a post graduate degree holder. He was taking the call taxi service provider for a ride by misusing their tie-up with a construction firm for site visit and was nabbed by the Vadapalani police.

Sreedhar came to know about the code number used by the customers of Casagrand builders when they hire Fast Track taxis, when he happened to visit a property with a person known to him. The call taxi had entered into a contract with the builder to provide transportation for the customers to visit the sites before purchasing houses. Sreedhar used this code to travel in the taxi.

When he hired the taxi for Kodaikanal, V Gopikrishnan, manager of the taxi service, became suspicious and checked his earlier trips to find that he never visited Casagrand property sites. The manager then lodged a complaint, police said.

When questioned, Sreedhar told the police he used the service as he knew the code number shared between the firm and the taxi provider. According to him, nobody questioned whenever he used the code and he used it to commute across the city without paying.

Police noted that he had been using only one four-digit code number to travel in the call taxi for the last two months.
