The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the girl reached Egmore railway station along with her mother to board a train to Karaikudi. Police sources said that the mother-duo reached the station at the last minute. In a hurry, they got into the guard van of Silambu Express which leaves for Manamadurai at 8.40 pm.

When the girl requested the guard to permit them to shift to their reserved seats at the next stop, the latter allegedly denied permission and asked them to get down. Then he allegedly misbehaved with her and touched her inappropriately in the guise of asking them to get down in front of her mother. Later, he stopped the train at the end of the platform and the train left for Manamadurai.

Shocked by this, the girl and her mother informed their family members about the incident and as per their advice, they lodged a complaint at Egmore railway police station.

A case has been registered but police are yet to identify the guard as they have sought details of the guard from the Railways.
