Cops step in as striking Yamaha workers scale mobile tower
A day after the Madras High Court directed the workers of Yamaha Motors not to stage protests within the factory premises at Oragadam, workers continued to press their demands including taking back two dismissed employees. Later in the day, sources said, they resolved not to stage agitation inside the premises.

On Wednesday evening, two workers climbed on a mobile phone tower to protest, creating tension among the protesters. Following an alert, Kancheepuram SP Santosh Hadimani rushed to the spot and held talks with them.
A large number of police personnel were deployed at the factory as the protest continued. The employees have been on a protest after the management dismissed two employees for forming a workers’ union. They said the agitation would continue till the union was formed and the dismissed workers were reinstated.
The workers of Yamaha India, Myoung Shin Automotive India Pvt Ltd and Royal Enfield at the Oragadam industrial belt have been on a strike demanding their managements to fulfil their demands.
