The victim, Rajendran (53), a cook at an eatery in Anna Nagar, had come to Triplicane for personal work and was waiting at the railway station to board a train to the beach station.

Around 10.30 pm, when Rajendran fell asleep in the chair, an unidentified man woke him up and threatened him at knifepoint to part with his valuables. When Rajendran refused, the man, joined by two others, attacked him. They snatched his mobile phone and Rs 7,000 in cash and fled the spot. Rajendran suffered severe stab injuries in his hand.

Following this, Rajendran approached the Railway Police and lodged a complaint. They rushed him to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Police said that he is out of danger. A case has been registered and police have launched a hunt for the miscreants. Further investigation is on.
