‘Rajapaksa revelations proof enough to label DMK, Cong war criminals’
A high-level meeting of the AIADMK districts secretaries that met here on Wednesday adopted a resolution demanding that the DMK and the Congress should be declared war criminals citing the recent revelations made by former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa about India’s help to his country’s army in the fight against the LTTE during the UPA rule.

The meeting held under party presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan in the presence of its top leaders -chief minister K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam - while referring to Rajapaksa’s reported remarks, said he had revealed “information” of Indian assistance to Sri Lankan Army when the “DMK-Congress alliance was ruling at the Centre.”
It recalled that former chief minister and former party supremo late J Jayalalithaa had in 2010 demanded that DMK, its late chief M Karunanidhi and Congress should be declared “war criminals” for “being instrumental” in the killing of “innocent Tamils” in the island nation.
“Now that Rajapaksa has openly admitted to all secrets in this regard, the DMK-Congress coalition government’s aiding the killings of 1.50 lakh Tamil should be treated as war crimes and those involved (here) should be declared war criminals and given punishment,” the meeting resolved.
Insiders told DT Next that the meeting was aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the two crucial bypolls, which are likely to be scheduled in December along with the assembly polls in Rajasthan, Madya Pradesh and the dissolved Telangana.
Rattled by the defeat at RK Nagar in December 2017 and to keep the flock intact, senior leaders also discussed the growing popularity for the rebel AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran. The top brass also took stock of old-timers who were reportedly unhappy with the current leadership. Issues like the party poll managers to be assigned for Tiruparankundram and Tiruvarur bypolls were also discussed.
