Burglars target 5 locked houses in city
In a series of burglaries that were reported in Adambakkam, thieves broke into five houses in three apartments within hours on Sunday night while the residents were away. While the police are trying to find if the same gang was involved in all the incidents and nab the suspects, sources said that it would be difficult to crack the case as there are no CCTV cameras in the apartments.

Police said that one of the victims, Ramu (66), a retired employee of a private firm staying on Ninth Street in Parthasarathi Nagar in Adambakkam, went to Pune with his wife to see their daughter.Â
On Monday morning, the neighbours noticed Ramu’s house was broke open and ransacked. Burglars had also broken into the apartment of Jenish (21), a software engineer, in the same complex. On Monday morning, Jenish returned home from Bengaluru and found that his laptop, mobile phone and iPad were stolen.Â
The third burglary happened at the residence of Boopathi (67) residing on 10th Street of Parthasarathi Nagar, who had gone to Andhra Pradesh along with his family. On Monday morning, the neighbours noticed his house was broken open by unidentified men. Meanwhile, intruders gained entry into the house of Saravanan (28), an IT professional, located on First Street in Kumarapuram when he was away at his home town in Cuddalore district.Â
The house of Rambabu (36), which on the same street, was also looted after he went to his home town two days ago. Adambakkam police have registered a case and are investigating. The details and value of the stolen properties would be known only after the inmates of the houses returned to the city, added police.Â
