6 held for killing history-sheeter in Vanagaram

The deceased Manikandan alias ‘Pura’ Mani has several snatching and robbery cases against him in the Virugambakkam police station. On Thursday, passers-by noticed a man lying in a pool of blood behind a Tasmac shop at Chettiayar Agaram in Vanagaram and alerted the police. Police retrieved the body and found hack marks on the head on body. 

The Maduravoyal police secured six persons — Arun, Aravind, Sultan, Anandhan, Nagaraj and ‘Bend’ Vicky. All of them were remanded in judicial custody. Police said that the accused belong to the gang of history-sheeter ‘Thakkali’ Prabakar and targeted Manikandan’s gang member Netaji, also a history-sheeter. They invited Manikandan for a liquor party to trap Netaji. But as Manikandan did not reveal details on Netaji, they murdered him.
