Mutt administrator held for raping minor girl

A mutt administrator in Tiruporur was arrested under POCSO Act for allegedly detaining a 17-year-old girl in the mutt and sexually assaulting her a number of times in the last two days.

According to the Sathangadu police, the girl, Rekha (name changed) was joined to the mutt by her mother after knowing that she was in a relationship with one Saleem. Rekha’s mother approached the police with a missing woman complaint after the mutt administration informed the mother that the girl was missing on, September 7.

The woman in her complaint stated that Saleem, a resident of Korukkupet, was allegedly following her daughter. She decided to leave her daughter at the mutt to divert her focus to spirituality.

However, at the mutt, the administrator Varadharajan (37) reportedly forced her to consume liquor and sexually assaulted her. After two days, she escaped from the mutt and reached Tiruporur bus stand and contacted Saleem. He rushed to the place and took her to his relative’s house in Nellore, Andhra Padesh.

When police officials from Sathangadu landed at Saleem’s house in Korukkupet and inquired his parents, they revealed what Rekha went through in the mutt. Based on the complaint lodged the girl, police registered a case and arrested the administrator
