Heist in banker’s house: Maid’s role suspected

“The maid, Rani (50) is being questioned.

She is a native of Madurai,” said the police. The gang members that robbed the house were talking in Madurai Tamil. The Police team that browsed the CCTV footage also noticed that the gang had used a vehicle, registered in Madurai, to escape after the robbery.

The robbers used Rani to gain entry into the bungalow premises after telling her that they are from the Vigilance Department. Police believe that she had a major role to play in the robbery. “She knew that the banker’s daughter had given the gold to her parents and the family was planning to keep it in bank lockers on Monday. So, the loot might have been planned on Sunday itself,” police sources said.

It may be recalled that a gang of masked men barged into the house of Senthamizh Yogeswaran, CGM of Repco Bank, in Pallavaram and robbed 220 sovereigns of jewels on Sunday evening after tying up the inmates at knifepoint.
