Ganesh (35) of Poonamallee was returning home from Chennai Central by taxi when another car rammed Ganesh’s vehicle from behind. While the taxi driver Anand was checking his car for any damage, four persons got down from the other car and dragged Ganesh out. They attacked him, pushed him into their car and sped away from the spot.
Anand rushed to the Maduravoyal police station and lodged a complaint about the incident. After the preliminary inquiry, police said that Ganesh is an accused in a cheating case and was returning home after appearing for a trial in a Bengaluru Court on Friday. Police suspect that he might have been kidnapped by those whom he had cheated. “Ganesh was kidnapped in a similar manner a few year ago, but he was released after he paid them money,” said an investigation officer. Police have retrieved the CCTV footage from the spot from where he was kidnapped.
In yet another incident, a taxi driver was kidnapped as he failed to settle a loan, but was released after he paid Rs 2 lakh. Police said that Murugan of Tiruverkadu bought a land but delayed the payment of Rs 6 lakh that he had borrowed for it. Frustrated over this, the lenders kidnapped and took him to Madhavaram. They later called his family seeking the money, and received Rs 2 lakh before releasing Murugan. Based on his complaint, Tiruverkadu police have arrested Sathish, Raja and Prem.
