    Traffic diversion for Besant Nagar church festival

    In view of the 10-day long annual festival at Annai Velankanni Church in Besant Nagar, the city traffic police have announced certain changes on August 29 and September 2 and 7 to ensure the smooth flow of the traffic.

    Vehicles will not be allowed on 6th Avenue, 4th Main Road, 3rd, 2nd and 7th Avenue owing to the Madha procession. Also, vehicles will not be allowed towards the Church after 4 pm from MG Road -7th Avenue junction, 6th Avenue-4th Main Road junction and 4th Main Road-3rd Avenue Junction. 

    Vehicles will not be allowed  towards Besant Nagar Bus Terminus from LB Road via Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue, Dhamodarapuram and Jeevarathinam Nagar.

    MTC buses passing via ML Park towards Besant Avenue will be diverted through LB Road, MG Road, Besant Nagar 1st Main Road to reach the destination from 4 pm on all three days. Those buses from Besant Nagar Terminus towards Tiruvanmiyur will go via Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue and LB Road and buses towards Mylapore and Kotturpuram will be diverted Besant Avenue Road and ML Park. 

    The vehicles coming from Sardar Patel Road will not be allowed towards Kasthuri Bai Nagar 3rd Cross Street. Those vehicles will use L B Road to reach Kasthuri Bai Nagar.
