3 AIIMS docs appear before panel
Three doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) appeared before the Justice A Arumughasamy Inquiry Commission probing the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa at Kalas Mahal on Thursday.

The doctors, who were part of a team of experts consulted on the treatment provided to Jayalalithaa were sent summons to appear before the Commission on August 23. Pulmonologist Dr GC Khilnani, cardiologist Dr Nitish Naik and anaesthetist Dr Anjana Trikha arrived in Chennai and presented themselves for the inquiry.Â
The doctors were said to have fielded a range of questions on the treatment provided to the late chief minister and the ailments she had suffered from. Questions were also raised about the use of the ECMO device for Jayalalithaa. All three doctors will appear again on Friday for cross-examination by VK Sasikala’s counsel Raja Senthoor Pandian.Â
The Commission is set to submit its final report on October 24 this year. Over 70 individuals have deposed before the one-man Commission so far.Â
