The arrested was identified as Sasikanth Shivaji from Pune, a married man with children. Shivaji became friends with a 34-year-old woman of Nandambakkam through online.

Police said he introduced himself as a bachelor businessman. The unmarried woman began to talk to him in a friendly manner, and soon Shivaji promised to marry her. A month ago, he asked her to come to Goa, where they spent 15 days before returning to Chennai. After reaching Chennai,

Shivaji told the woman that he needed Rs 10 lakh to invest in business. He claimed that profit would start flowing in crores of rupees soon and they could get married before long.

Believing him, the woman gave all of her savings, amounting to Rs 10 lakh. After collecting money from the woman, Shivaji said he would go to Pune and return within days. But Shivaji did not return for days and his mobile phone was switched off.

Following this, the woman filed a complaint with the St Thomas Mount Deputy Commissioner. Police found he was in Mumbai by tracking his mobile phone number. A week ago, the special team reached Mumbai and arrested Shivaji on Wednesday.
