On Tuesday evening, the authorised Apple showroom in Tambaram Selaiyur had received a call from a buyer who introduced himself as Arun Kumar and ordered an iPhone X worth Rs 90,000.

The caller had requested showroom manager Karthi Vellaisammy to deliver the phone to his address and take cash as he was unable to visit the showroom due to work pressure.

He had asked the delivery boy to call him once he reached Kishkintha theme park at Erumaiyur village.

On Wednesday, Sirajudeen (31) from Moongileri in Pallavam went to deliver the phone and as per the instructions, he called Arun. Thereafter, Arun showed up within minutes and took him to a tea shop. Arun asked the delivery boy to bill it on one R Anitha, who reportedly resided at 465, Mudichur main road, New Perungalathur. Thereafter, when Sirajudeen asked for money, Arun took him to Sri Raja Apartment in Varadarajapuram.

He then dialled a number and told someone on phone that he has collected the mobile phone and that the delivery guy will come upstairs and collect the money. Thereafter, he asked Sirajudeen to get the cash from one Bakiyaraj on the second floor.

However, when Sirajudeen went to the second floor, he found no Bakiyaraj there and rushed downstairs. By the time he came down, Arun had escaped. Moreover, his phone was switched off too.

Realising that he has been cheated, Sirajudeen filed a complaint at the Somangalam police station. A search is on to nab Arun Kumar.
