‘Start up initiatives the future of the country’

“The world is opening up for new start up initiatives that are going to be the future of the country,” she added. During her speech Kaul questioned the audience saying, are we introducing and encouraging the children to the vast field of opportunities that they can explore their talents in. 

Talking about the school education, she emphasised on the education system being all about books, marks and ranks. The scenario of primary level of education where children are required to learn and play has now become only learning. Children are seen memorising alphabets and numbers for good grades rather than memorising them through new ways of teaching that expands their thinking skills.

“Children need interactive and participatory teaching sessions they can engage in, without any threat or fear. Policy level reforms are needed to execute this”, she noted. “The education we see today is all about going to school, attending tuitions, preparing for exams and admissions. Is this the education system we need?”

The Kuruvila Jacob Initiative for Promoting Excellence in School Education aims at enhancing the strategic and operational performance of schools in the process of imparting holistic education to students, also various teacher training programmes are organised and certificates are given.

The initiative has 9 major teachers centric programmes, education excellence cluster programme, model school accreditation programme, education leadership programme-programme for correspondents, principals, multimedia–enhanced elementary science, a skill development and competency enhancement programme to guide children with learning difficulties, a programme for middle school teachers and many such initiatives. The programmes of the initiative are targeted at teachers and administrators of schools.
