Gold, cash stolen from house in Kalpakkam
Police said that 30 sovereigns of gold and Rs 75,000 in cash were burgled from a scientist’s house in Kalpakkam on Saturday.

The victim, Silvia is working as a scientist at the Madras Atomic Power Station in Kalpakkam and staying at the officers’ quarters at the township with her family. On Saturday evening, she went out and returned home in a few hours.
When she returned, she found that unidentified persons had gained entry into the house by breaking the window panels and burgled the valuables before fleeing the spot. Based on her complaint, Kalpakkam police visited the spot and collected fingerprints with the help a forensic team. They have also recovered CCTV footage from the locality to identify the burglars.
As the incident has happened during the daytime and the burglars have opened the cupboard with the keys kept inside the house, police suspect role of a person known to victim behind the heist.
Further inquiry is on. The burglary in the high-security officers’ quarters in Kalpakkam has shocked the residents.
