Railways to up space between tracks and ‘killer’ fence
After the death of seven passengers within 12 hours due to a concrete fence near platform number four of St Thomas Mount railway station in July, the railway officials on Thursday have decided to realign the track so that it is not too close to the fence.

After the death of EMU passengers, the public had demanded the removal of the fence. The Railway Chief Commissioner from Bangalore visited the spot and suggested appropriate measures.
The officials have decided to realign the rail track so that the passengers will not hit the concrete fence.
Officials said that there is no plan to remove the fence as it would result in more accidents. Officials added that the work will be completed within a few months and the fast local train service, which has been temporarily stopped, will resume.
