Kanchi seer expresses condolences
The Kanchi Shankaracharya on Wednesday condoled the death of DMK president M Karunanidhi, recalling his support to the famous Shaivite mutt on many occasions, senior BJP leader L Ganesan said.

Ganesan said he received a message from the pontiff, Vijayendra Saraswathi, to convey the latter’s condolences to the kin of the former Chief Minister.
“I was asked to extend the mutt’s condolences and sympathies with the family of Kalaignar, especially MK Stalin, the son of the departed leader,” he said.
Karunanidhi was often supportive of the mutt, Ganesan added in a statement, quoting the the religious head.
Ganesan, who had already paid tributes to the mortal remains of Karunanidhi at Rajaji Hall, said he once again went there as a “representative” of the mutt and conveyed the message to Stalin.
Vijayendra Saraswathi took charge of the mutt in March this year, following the death of Jayendra Saraswathi.
